A Website Architecture

A database-driven web site is often implemented with a three-tiered architecture: (i) user interface, (ii) functional module, and (iii) database management system, which uses three foundation standards/protocols:
  1. HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) is formatting and hyperlinking standards.
  2. HTTP (Hypertext Transport Protocol) is a communication protocol for server client interaction.
  3. Common Gateway Interface is an interface to external programs.
