Science Program (Chemistry), mentor: Dr. Siva Jayaraman
The project is aimed at evaluation of molecules that can by synthesized using light initiated reactions. This is needed to address the ever growing demand for developing environmentally benign and sustainable processes to access chemicals. We also aim to degrade plastics/polymers using light as a reagent as this strategy has the potential to remove waste from the environment and to recycle them. (Completion of AP Chemistry is required for this project)
